WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -- The Purdue men's golf team concluded play on Sunday with a cumulative score of 879 (+27) at the Adidas Hoosier Invitational. The Boilermakers used a third round score of 300 (+16) after shooting a 294 (+10) and 285 (+1) in rounds one and two. Purdue's score placed them in a tie for third in the field of 15.
The tournament, which was hosted by Indiana, was played at the Indiana University Golf Course in Bloomington, Ind. The course is a par-71, 6,813-yard venue. The tournament consisted of 15 teams, including the third ranked player in the nation, Jorge Campillo of Indiana.
Indiana won the tournament with a score of 839 (-13). The Hoosiers, who are ranked seventh in the nation, trailed the defending champions, Eastern Kentucky, by 12 after round one. Indiana rebounded with a tournament low 274 (-10) in round two to take the lead, and then shot a 278 (-6) to win the tournament in round 3. Jorge Campillo of Indiana won the tournament with a cumulative score of 203 (-10). Campillo used scores of 68 (-3) in round one and three and a score of 67(-4) in round two. Trey Bowling of Eastern Kentucky shot a tournament low 65 (-6) in round one.
Tyler Duncan and Maximo Kopp led the Boilers with scores of 219 (+6), which placed them in a tie for 16th. Kopp used a team-low round of 70 (-1) in round two while Duncan used consecutive 71s (E) followed by a 77 in round three. William Sjaichudin finished with a 220 (+7). Erich Johnston finished in a tie for 28th with a cumulative score of 223 (+10). Nakarintra Ratanakul finished in 40th with a score of 227 (+14). All five Boilers carded at least one round for the Boilers. Two Boilermakers also competed individually. Tom Oliver finished in a tie for tenth with a score of 216 (+3). Oliver fired a two-under 70 in round three. David Gersztein finished in a tie for 23rd with a score of 221 (+8).
