STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (AP) -- Talor Battle scored 21 points as Penn State lost an early 15-point lead before rallying to beat No. 14 Purdue, 67-64 on Tuesday night.
Stanley Pringle added 18 points for the Nittany Lions, (13-3, 2-1 Big Ten), who are off to their best start in 13 seasons.
E'Twaun Moore led the shorthanded Boilermakers (11-4, 0-2) with 21 points.
Purdue, which lost its second straight, played without starters Robbie Hummel (back) and Chris Kramer (sprained left foot).
Still, the Boilermakers clawed back by attacking the basket and playing better defense. Moore scored seven straight at one point during a 16-5 run capped by a Moore 3 that put Purdue up 55-51 with 10:21 left.
But Purdue went its next eight minutes without a bucket and Penn State rallied late. Battle's layup with 4:43 left made it 61-55 to help seal the game.
