Nov. 3, 2008
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Purdue junior Slavko Bijelica could not keep his run going this morning at the Big Ten Singles Championship, as he fell in the tournament semifinals.
The 6-seeded Bijelica got off to a slow start versus the 4-seeded Christian Bierich (Iowa), losing the first set, 0-6. He came back strong in the second, but lost a nail-biter, 5-7. Bierich went on to win the final.
Bijelica won four matches in Madison and improved his fall record to 12-4. The Boilermakers wrapped up their fall schedule with this tournament.
Purdue now has the next two months off before beginning their spring slate on Jan. 18 versus DePaul. The dual will start at noon at the Schwartz Tennis Center.
