WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Purdue University men's golf team concluded play on Monday at the Windon Memorial Championship in sixth place with a cumulative score of 874 (+22). The tournament, hosted by Northwestern, was played at North Shore Country Club in Glenview, Ill. The course played to a par of 71 and 7,103 yards long.
After the first of three rounds, Purdue's score of 295 (+11) placed them in 11th in a field of 15. Illinois led the tournament with a score of 276 (-8).
The Boilermakers shot another 295 (+11) in the second round and remained in 11th place with a cumulative score of 590 (+22). Illinois remained atop the leader board with a cumulative score of 559 (-9).
On Monday, the Boilermakers used an even round of 284 to finish in sixth place (+22) for the tournament. Illinois also shot a 284 (E) on Sunday and won the tournament with a score of 843 (-9). Only one team, Indiana, shot better than 284 on Monday.
Erich Johnston led the Boilermakers with scores of 71, 73, and 70, which placed him in a tie for 11th. Indiana's Jorge Campillo shot a tournament best 63 (-8) to win the tournament with a cumulative score of 205 (-8).
All five Boilermakers who traveled with the team contributed at least one round to the team total. Those players included Nakarintra Ratanakul, Tyler Duncan, Robert Robertson, and Tom Oliver.
Purdue's fall season has ended and the team won't play again until February 7, when they host the Purdue Alumni Match in Scottsdale, Ariz.
