    FRANKLIN, Tenn. - The 12th-ranked Purdue women's golf team gained ground on the leaderboard for the second consecutive day to finish in eighth place at Mason Rudolph Championship in Franklin, Tenn., with a cumulative team score of 890 (+26).

    No.3 UCLA (-14,850) finished in first place, despite a two-stroke penalty for breach of a local rule, with a six-stroke lead over top-ranked Southern California (-8, 856).

    Senior Maria Hernandez (E, 216) ended the tournament in 15th place as an individual, 11 strokes behind UCLA's Sydnee Michaels who finished in first with a 205 (-11).

    Hernandez started the round at two-under par and six strokes off the lead after opening with a 72 and 70 in her first two rounds, but failed to make up ground after shooting a two-over par 74 in her third and final round.

    Sophomore Maude-Aimee Leblanc picked up a stroke Sunday firing a one-under par 71. LeBlanc began the third round in a tie for 29th as an individual but managed to jump into a tie for 17th after carding three birdies on Sunday. She finished with a three-round total 218 (+2, 73,74,71).

    Sophomore Junthima Gulyanamitta shot a two-over par 74 in her final round to give her a three-round total of 222 (+6, 75,73,74). Gulyanamitta ended the second round with three straight birdies but could not keep the momentum going after carding three bogeys and a birdie in her final round. She ended the tournament tied for 31st as an individual.

    Senior Carolyn Mess improved her score for the second straight round shooting a 75 (+3) on Sunday to go along with her second round 79 (+7) and opening round 82 (+10). She finished the tournament in 77th place with a three-round total of 236 (+20).

    Freshman Lauree Southerden carded a six-over par 78 in the final round. She ended with a three-round total 238 (+22, 83, 77, 78).

    UCLA (287-277-286=850) and Southern California (288-285-283=856) were followed by Oklahoma State(286-282-295=863), Vanderbilt (291-281-296=868), Arizona State (289-291-293=873), Duke (292-287-303=882), Alabama (298-292-293=883), Purdue (302-294-294=890), Auburn (298-306-287=891), Florida (292-296-306=894), Arizona (297-306-293=896), Arkansas (298-299-300=897), UT Chattanooga (308-292- 302=902), Wake Forest (300-301-302=903), Stanford (313-297-297=907), Tennessee (307-299-305=911) and UCF (309-304-301=914).

    The three-day 54-hole event was hosted by Vanderbilt University at the 6,217- yard par-72 Vanderbilt Legends Club South Course.

    The Boilermakers will be back in action Monday, Oct. 6 when they compete in the Windy City Collegiate in Evanston, Ill.
