Women Jump Four Spots at the Mason Rudolph Championship

FRANKLIN, Tenn. - The 12th-ranked women's golf team ended the second round of the Mason Rudolph Championship in ninth place (+20, 596) after firing a six-over par 294 on Saturday. The second round score is an eight-stroke improvement from their first round 302 (+14).

Senior Maria Hernandez (-2, 142) ended the day tied for 10th as an individual and sits six strokes behind leader Megan Grehan (-8, 136) from Vanderbilt.

Hernandez ended the second round with a two-under par 70, two strokes better than her first round par-72. She birdied three holes on Saturday but fell back to two-under par after recording a bogey on the sixth hole.

Five stokes behind Hernandez is sophomore Maude-Aimee Leblanc who fired a 74 (+2) in her second round. Her two-round total 147 (+3) places her in tie for 29th as an individual.

Sophomore Junthima Gulyanamitta finished Saturday with birdies on her final three holes to give her a one-over par 73. Gulyanamitta now has a two-round total 148 (+4, 75, 73) and is in a tie for 31st as an individual, one stroke behind teammate LeBlanc.

Freshman Lauree Southerden improved six strokes from her first round carding a five-over par 77 on Saturday. She has a two-round total 160 (+16, 83, 77).

Senior Carolyn Mess also improved from her opening round firing a 79 (+7) giving her a two-round total of 161 (+17, 82, 79).

No. 2 UCLA (-14, 562) finished the second round in first place. The Bruins are trailed by No. 6 Oklahoma State (-8, 568), host Vanderbilt (-4, 572) and No. 1 Southern California (-3, 573).

Tee times for the third and final round of the tournament begin tomorrow at 7:30 a.m.
