First Round of the Mason Rudolph Championship

FRANKLIN, Tenn. - The 12th-ranked Purdue women's golf team ended the first round of the Mason Rudolph Championship in 13th place after shooting a 14-over par 302. No. 6 Oklahoma State leads the field of 17 after shooting a two-under par 286.

Senior Maria Hernandez led Purdue with an even-par 72 in her first round, placing her in a tie for 17th as an individual. Hernandez struggled early, recording three bogies on the front nine, but clawed back to even-par after recording four birdies in the second half of the day.

One stroke behind Hernandez is sophomore Maude-Aimee Leblanc who turned in a one-over par 73. She's currently tied for 23rd as an individual.

Sophomore Junthima Gulyanamitta eagled the 18th hole and ended her first round with a three-over par 75.

Senior Carolyn Mess opened with an 82, while freshman Lauree Southerden recorded an 83 in her first collegiate round.

Behind first place Oklahoma State is No. 3 UCLA (-1, 287), No. 1 Southern California (E, 288), No. 2 Arizona State (+1, 289) and host Vanderbilt (+3, 291). All rankings come from the Golf World/NGCA Coaches' Poll.

Duke's Amanda Blumenherst and Auburn's Candace Schepperle lead all individuals after both firing a five-under par 67.

Tee times for the second round of the tournament begin tomorrow at 8 a.m.
