COLUMBUS, Ohio - Purdue freshman Kristina Krasich posted a personal record in the women's 1,500-meter run at the U.S.A. Junior Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Jesse Owens Stadium in Columbus, Ohio on Sunday. The Boilermaker rookie capped off a solid showing by the Purdue team, taking eighth in the finals.

Krasich clipped nearly six seconds off her top collegiate time on Sunday, crossing the line in 4:30.52, to finish eighth overall. She fell just two and a half seconds shy of the World Junior Championships qualifying time, but still notched the Boilermakers' top time in the 1,500 this season.

Teammate Tara Turnbull produced a solid showing as well on Sunday, taking ninth place in the women's pole vault with a mark of 3.75 meters (12-03.50). Turnbull is already tied for fourth in Purdue's outdoor history, clearing a career-best 4.00 meters (13-01.50) and qualifying for regionals in her first collegiate season.

The Boilermakers continue national competition next weekend as junior Kara Patterson and former teammate Lindsey Blaine head to Eugene, Ore. for the U.S.A. Olympic Trials. For more information and a full schedule visit www.usatf.org.
