BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Purdue men's golf team is in third place after firing a total of 586 (297-289) in the first two rounds at the adidas Hoosier Invitational on Saturday.
The Boilermakers are ahead of the host team, No. 18 Indiana, and trail first-place Eastern Kentucky by four strokes and second-place Miami (OH) by two.
The Gold and Black have four golfers in the top 20 after two rounds of play. Purdue freshman Maximo Kopp is tied for third after carding one-over par 72s in both rounds on Saturday. Freshman David Gersztein and junior Tom Oliver recorded identical scores of 75 and 72 and are tied for 12th place at 147. Junior Michael Randle is tied for 18th and just one stroke behind at 148, after firing a first-round 75 followed by a 73 in the afternoon. Freshman Erich Johnston is tied for 43rd after recording 76s in both rounds on Saturday.
The final round of play will begin at 9 a.m. Sunday morning with a shotgun start. The event is being held at the par-71, 6,813-yard Indiana University Golf Course.
