FULLERTON, Calif. - The Boilermaker softball team wrapped up the weekend on a positive note, posting a 4-0 win over Loyola-Chicago Sunday morning. The victory moved Purdue to 11-5 on the season and gave the team its second win of the Worth Invitational.

The Boilermakers tallied their four runs on four hits and three Rambler miscues, while allowing just three hits in the contest. Junior Candace Curtis went 2-for-3 in the contest for Purdue.

Junior Dana Alcocer (7-4) threw five shutout innings, striking out three, before being relieved by freshman Suzie Rzegocki, who K'ed one Rambler batter. Amy Solava was charged with the loss for Loyola.

The Ramblers loaded the bases in the second, but came up empty after a fielder's choice play at the plate and a strikeout.

The Boilermakers struck first, putting up three runs on two hits and two Loyola errors in the bottom of the inning. Sophomore Ashley Barr reached on a fielder's choice, then was joined on base by junior Christina Trauger, who singled to left. Junior Kelly Miller reached on a throwing error by the third baseman, but Barr scored on the play as the ball sailed past first base. With runners at second and third, senior Ashley Hall dropped a single just past second base picking up both RBI.

Another fielding error by the third baseman put Miller aboard in the fifth. A sacrifice by sophomore Liz Allum moved her to second. Curtis knocked her home with a singled to short left field to give Purdue a 4-0 lead.

The Boilermakers (11-5) return to action on Friday, when they take on Tennessee-Chattanooga at the Adidas Invitational in Tampa, Fla.
