GREENSBORO, Ga. - The Purdue men's golf team is in 14th place at the Linger Longer Invitational in Greensboro, Ga. ‎The Boilermakers fired a 312 in the opening round.‎
No. 26 Mississippi is the first-round leader at the 14-team event after shooting a 277 (-11) and is ‎one stroke ahead of second-place No. 24 Tennessee-Chattanooga. UTC's J.T. Clendenin ‎garnered a six-under 66 taking the individual lead after day one. Georgia's Russell Henry, David ‎Marino of Ole Miss and Kennesaw State's Oliver West find themselves one shot back and in a tie ‎for second position.‎
Freshman David Gersztein carded the low round for Purdue on Friday and his 75 has him tied for ‎‎41st. Junior Michael Randle and freshman Maximo Kopp both fired a 78 in the opening round and ‎are tied for 60th place. Keith Shanks recorded an 81 and is tied for 71st, while Erich Johnston ‎fired an 85 and is in 75th place.‎
The third annual Linger Longer Invitational is being played at the par-72, 6,985-yard Reynolds ‎Landing Golf Course. Play resumed Saturday morning and the final round will be played on ‎Sunday. Live coverage can be found on golfstat.com and final results will be posted to ‎purduesports.com.‎
