JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The Purdue softball team extended its win streak to four games with a 8-3 victory over Jacksonville University. The Boilermakers capitalized on Dolphin miscues en route to the victory.

Purdue scored eight runs on six hits and four JU errors, while allow the Dolphins three runs on seven hits. Six different Boilermakers posted hits in the contest.

Junior Dana Alcocer moved to 11-4 on the season, striking out six in six inning of work. Freshman Suzie Rzegocki tossed the final inning of the game for the Boilermakers. Ashley Iveson (1-3) was charged with the loss for Jacksonville.

The Dolphins scored first with two runs on three hits in the bottom of the first. A pair of singles and a fielder's choice gave JU runners at the corners, then a Beth Glasscock double to center brought both home.

Purdue got its first baserunner in the second inning as freshman Suzie Rzegocki was hit by a pitch with two outs, but the Boilermakers could not score.

With two outs in the third, freshman Beth Cinadr was hit by a pitch. Sophomore Ashley Barr then reached on a fielding error by the first baseman, but Purdue could not convert on the RBI opportunity.

JU added another run on a hit by pitch, an error and a sacrifice fly in the third.

The Boilermakers got one run back in the fourth as sophomore Kelsey Haupert launched a solo shot to right center.

Purdue took a 4-3 lead with three runs on four hits in the fifth. Juniors Christina Trauger and Kelly Miller led off with singles and moved into scoring position on a pass ball. Cinadr followed by dropping a single into short left field to bring Trauger home. Miller went to third on the play, while Cinadr advanced to second. Barr brought another run in with a ground ball to short. Junior Candace Curtis put Purdue on top with a double to deep center field. A pair of fly balls left Curtis stranded.

The Boilermakers tacked on three more runs on a hit and three errors in the sixth. Errors by the shortstop and the second baseman put Rzegocki and sophomore Jenna Alexander on base to start the inning. A sacrifice pushed the two into scoring position for Miller, who reached on a fielding error by the first baseman, as Rzegocki came home. Pinch runner Amy Butcher scored the following play on a Cinadr sacrifice fly. Barr brought Miller in from third with a single to right, before a pop up ended the inning.

Purdue capped the scoring with a run in the seventh as Mitchell drew a lead off walk, was sacrificed to second, stole third and scored on an Alexander sacrifice fly.

The Boilermakers (16-6) look to pull off the sweep with a win in Game 2 of the twin bill, which is slated to begin at 6 p.m.
