WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Sophomore Paul Foley and freshman Eric Ramos each won their singles matches - and doubles contest together - during the second day of competition at the Boilermaker Invitational.
Foley and Ramos combined to beat the Drake tandem of Ricardo Lau and Bokang Setshogo 8-5 to earn their first doubles win of the year.
In singles play, Foley beat Western Michigan's Casey Cullen, 6-4, 4-6, 10-7. Ramos dispatched Lau in straight sets 6-3, 7-6 (5).
Lau entered the spring season with an ITA Central Region ranking of 28th. As a team, Drake is ranked 52nd in the nation.
Purdue's three-day home invitational at the Schwartz Tennis Center concludes Monday with matches between No. 41 Minnesota and Drake starting at 9 a.m. Purdue and No. 59 Western Michigan take the court at 2 p.m. Admission to both sessions is free.
