WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Purdue's 49th ranked women's tennis team captured two singles matches and one doubles contest from No. 21 Wake Forest Friday at the Virginia Team Invitational.

The Boilermakers' No. 1 doubles tandem of seniors Cigdem Duru and Brooke Beier defeated the Demon Deacon pairing of Emilee Malvehy and Sierra Poske 8-6 to earn six points in the flight A bracket.

Freshman Joanna Craven also tallied six points in flight D singles thanks to her victory over Wake's Katarina Reveche, 6-4, 2-6, 7-6.

Junior Anna Dzeva collected four points in flight E singles after Deacon Ana Jerman was forced to retire following two sets with the score split at 6-7, 6-2.

The invitational's scoring system distributes points (for wins and losses) on a sliding scale to players bracketed in singles flights A-F and doubles flights A-D. No points are awarded to competitors in flight G singles.

Purdue resumes competition Saturday, taking on the 39th-ranked Cavaliers. The Boilermakers meet No. 33 LSU Sunday.
