BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Juniors Jh'Rome Tuggle and Brian Kaluf and sophomore Zach Logan added four more NCAA Mideast Regional qualifiers to the Purdue University men's and women's track and field teams' growing total at the Billy Hayes Invitational, hosted by Indiana University on Friday. Tuggle eclipsed the regional standards in the men's 200- and 400-meter dashes, while Logan qualified in the men's 400 and Kaluf hit the mark in the men's 400-meter hurdles. The Boilermakers now have qualified in 29 events for the regional meet.

Tuggle topped the 200 field with a career-best time of 21.07 and was the top collegiate finisher in the 400 (second overall) with a personal record of 46.55. Logan finished just behind Tuggle in the 400 in 46.71, a collegiate best, as the two times rank second and fourth, respectively, in Purdue history. Kaluf took home the 400-hurdles title with a time of 52.13, a personal record and the eighth fastest in the conference this season.

The Boilermakers received several other outstanding performances on the day, including that of junior Tyler Miller. Miller shattered his previous career best in the men's shot put with a throw of 17.57 meters (57-07.75) to place first overall and climb from sixth to fourth on the conference list. Miller also set a collegiate record in the men's discus, hurling it 48.13 meters (157-11) to place fourth overall.

Senior captain Laura Farley improved her career best in the women's 800-meter run, placing first with a time of 2:08.40. Her time is the fastest by a Boilermaker this season and is just 0.04 seconds short of the top-five times in Purdue history.

Junior Jim Schwingendorf captured the men's javelin crown with his career best throw of 60.92 meters (199-10), also good for fifth place in Boilermaker history. Senior teammate Brian Williams finished second in the event, cracking the 60-meter mark with a distance of 60.64 meters (198-11.50). Senior Lindsey Blaine topped the second-place finisher by 10 meters on the women's side, hurling the javelin 48.77 meters (160-00) to win the event.

Juniors Astin Steward and Sheena James respectively won the women's hammer throw and shot put events as Steward marked 57.41 meters (188-04.25), while James threw the shot 14.93 meters (48-11.75). Seniors Lindsay Polhemus and Mandy Bodner grabbed second and fourth in the women's discus with respective tosses of 43.76 meters (143-07) and 43.12 meters (141-06), while freshman Christina Madison placed second in the women's 100-meter hurdles with a time of 14.71. Sophomore Ranay Harvey fell just 0.08 seconds shy of the NCAA Regional qualifying mark in the women's 400-meter hurdles, crossing the tape in third at 1:00.90.

The Boilermakers are set to do battle with the rest of the conference next weekend as they head to University Park, Pa., for the Big Ten Outdoor Championships, hosted by Penn State University.
