DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - After the second round, the Purdue women's golf team is in third place with a team total of 597 in the NCAA Women's Golf Championships in Daytona Beach, Fla. The Boilermakers were led by sophomore Christel Boeljon who is in first place with a total of 141, after firing a three-under par 69 today.
Duke carded a 287 in the second round to move into first place. The Blue Devils have a seven-stroke advantage over second-place UCLA and a 10-stroke lead over the Boilermakers.
Boeljon had six birdies and three bogeys on Wednesday to take the individual lead. Her 69 ties all golfers for low round in the tournament thus far.
"I played solid today," said Boeljon. "I hit a lot of fairways and found a lot of greens. I think I only missed two greens. I felt comfortable about my game and just went shot-by-shot."
Senior Myrte Eikenaar improved by six strokes today, carding a 73 for a two-day total of 152. She is tied with teammates Stefanie Endstrasser and Maria Hernandez for 36th place at eight-over par. Endstrasser fired a 75 in the second round and Hernandez recorded a 77.
Sophomore Stefanie Oukeo shot an 84 on Wednesday, giving her a total score of 167. She is tied for 120th place with a total score of 167.
The tournament is held at the LPGA International Legends Course, a par-72, 6,403-yard layout and is co-hosted by Central Florida Sports Commission and Central Florida University. Live scoring is provided by golfstat.com and the Boilermakers will tee-off beginning at 1:20 p.m. ET on Thursday.
