DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - Purdue sophomore Christel Boeljon shot an even-par 72 to lead the 11th-ranked Boilermakers in the first round of the NCAA Women's Golf Championships in Daytona Beach, Fla. Purdue is in a five-way tie for 7th place with a team total of 303, with three rounds to play. The Boilermakers are just eight strokes behind first-place USC.

North Carolina and Louisville are tied for second, each with a team score of 297.

Boeljon birdied holes No. 1, 3 and 17 to go along with three bogeys to break even. She is currently tied for sixth place.

Sophomore Maria Hernandez fired a three-over par 75 in the opening round and is tied for 22nd. Hernandez is Purdue's highest ranked golfer, currently No. 11 in the Golfstat/Sagarin poll.

Big Ten Freshman of the Year, Stefanie Endstrasser, carded a 77 in the first round, tying her for 53rd.

Senior Myrte Eikenaar shot a 79 and is tied for 83rd.

Sophomore Stephanie Oukeo, low golfer for Purdue in the East Regionals, carded an 83 on Tuesday and is tied for 114th place.

UC Irvine's Selenee' Henderson is the individual leader. She shot a three-under par 69 in the opening round of play and is alone in first place.

The tournament is being held at the LPGA International Legends Course, a par-72, 6,403-yard layout and is co-hosted by Central Florida Sports Commission and Central Florida University. Live scoring is provided by golfstat.com.
