WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Boilermaker senior Scott Warner won a straight-set decision at No. 6 singles over James Dwyer, but it was not enough as Purdue dropped a hard-fought 6-1 decision at No. 34 Penn State Friday afternoon.
Warner, a native of Greeley, Colo., won by scores of 6-2 and 6-4. The victory was Warner's 10th of the season and fifth at the No. 6 position.
Unfortunately, the remainder of the dual did not go according to Purdue's plan; however, freshman Branko Kuzmanovic and senior Paul Rose came close to knocking off the 41st-ranked duo of Ryan Berger/Michael James, 8-7 (1).
Purdue's next match is scheduled for noon on Easter Sunday at No. 19 Michigan.
