COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Boilermaker softball team could not manage a series split with Ohio State, falling 8-0 on Saturday. Purdue tallied just two hits in the loss.

Sophomore Candace Curtis (Danville, Calif.) tallied the first hit of the game with a single through the left side in the bottom of the first, but could not score.

The Buckeyes scored first, with five runs on five hits in the third. A three-run home run by Sam Marder and a two-run triple by pitcher Jamee Juarez drove in the runs.

Senior DaQueta Johnson (Ontario, Calif.) posted a two-out single in the fourth, but the Boilermakers could not capitalize on the hit.

Juarez made it 8-0 OSU with a three-run shot to center in the fifth. A pair of singles accounted for the other base runners.

The Boilermakers went down in order in the fifth on a pair of caught foul balls and a strikeout to end the game.

Purdue managed two hits, while allowing the Buckeyes eight runs on 10 hits.

Juarez (15-8) earned the win for Ohio State, while sophomore Ashley DiDomenico (Youngstown, Ohio) struck out two in the complete-game effort for Purdue.

The Boilermakers look to get back on the winning track when they take on Penn State in University Park, Pa., on Sunday. The doubleheader is slated for a noon start.
