The Purdue women's golf team is in first place after 36 holes of the Lady Buckeye Spring Invitational in Columbus, Ohio. The Boilermakers are paced by sophomores Maria Hernandez and Christel Boeljon who are tied for first at 2-under par, after totaling scores of 142 for the day. Boeljon fired a 71 in both rounds of play on Saturday and Hernandez shot a 72 followed by a team-low 70 in the afternoon round.

The 12th-ranked Boilermakers lead Michigan State by 11 strokes. The Boilermakers totaled 593 strokes on Saturday after firing a 298 in the morning round followed by a 295 in the afternoon. Michigan State totaled 604 strokes on the day. Kent State is in third place after a total of 619.

Senior Myrte Eikenaar is tied for eighth after rounds of 76 and 77. Sophomore Stephanie Oukeo totaled 156 and is tied for 17th overall.

The Lady Buckeye Invitational is the final tune-up for the Big Ten Championships next weekend. Purdue is one of nine Big Ten schools in this weekend's field.

The tournament is being played at the Scarlet Course at the Ohio State University Golf Club. The final round will be played Sunday morning at 8:30 a.m. ET.
