Higher-Than-Normal Team Total Puts Purdue In Middle Of Pack

ATHENS, Ga. - It was a below-average start for the Boilermakers today at the 35th Annual Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic. After the first round, Purdue is tied for ninth with the University of Arkansas.

Purdue came out and shot a +20 round of 304 putting them 11 shots behind Auburn, which is leading the way right now with a team total of 293. Auburn is followed closely by Michigan State (297), Florida (300), and Louisiana State (301).

Once again, Purdue was lead by sophomore Maria Hernandez, who finished the day tied for fourth with three other competitors. Her score of 72 places her just two shots back of the leader.

Christel Boeljon and Myrte Eikenaar finished the day close behind Hernandez tied with mulitple competitors with a score of 75. Stefanie Endstrasser finished the day with a +11 round of 82, which landed her tied for 74th. Fabienne In-Albon finished right behind her with an 84, which was good enough to tie her for 84th.

Today was the first day of the three-day tournament. The Boilermakers will hit the No. 1 fairway tomorrow at 9 a.m. hoping to improve their position.
