RIO GRANDE, Puerto Rico - The Purdue women's golf team moved into third place after the second round of action in the Lady Puerto Rico Classic. The No. 15 Boilermakers posted a team score of 287 for a two-day total of 583, seven shots out of the lead.
No. 6 Auburn jumped into the top spot after firing a team total of 284 this morning, giving the Tigers a two-round total even-par 576. No. 9 Oklahoma remained in second place after posting a team score of 289 for a two-round total of 581. Round-one leader, TCU fell back to fourth place with a second round 296, leaving the Horned Frogs nine shots back after two days of play.
Individually, Purdue was led by a trio of one-under 71s from sophomores Maria Hernandez and Christel Boeljon and senior Myrte Eikenaar. Hernandez and Boeljon are both tied for 10th with two-day totals of one-over 145. Eikenaar is part of a three-way tie for 16th after firing a two-over 146 through the first two rounds. Freshman Stefanie Endstrasser rounded out the team's scoring with a 74, for a two-day total of 149 that has her tied for 25th. Junior Whitney Frykman finished round two with an 82, leaving her at 155 for the tournament.
Pernilla Lindberg of Oklahoma State and Marianna Macias of Auburn are tied for the overall individual lead, each with a two-round total of 140. Lindberg fired a one-under 71 today and Macias carded a two-under 70. First round leader Valentine Derrey fell to third with a two-over 74, putting her at 141 after two rounds and just one shot back from the leaders.
