The ninth-ranked Purdue men's golf team is in 12th place after the first two rounds of the 20th-annual Jerry Pate National Intercollegiate tournament in Birmingham, Ala.

The Boilermakers carded rounds of 287 and 283 on Monday. Their total of 570 is two-over par. Tournament-host Alabama leads the event with a total of 542, 26 under par. Texas Tech is in second place (546) and Alabma-Birmingham is in third (551).

Senior Peter Richardson fired a six-under 66 in the first round on Monday. He posted a 68 in the afternoon. He is tied for second place overall with a total of 134.

Senior Pariya Junhasavasdikul is tied for 22nd place after a total of 140. He fired an even-par 72 and a 68. Brandon Lawson had rounds of 75 and 73 and is tied for 51st overall.

Ryan Thomas is tied for 53rd after scores of 74 and 75. Tom Oliver totaled 152 on Monday and is tied for 56th overall.

Other nationally ranked teams competing in the tournament include third-ranked Alabama, No. 7 Georgia State, No. 13 East Tennessee State, and No. 24 BYU. Rounding out the 12-team field is Auburn, Alabama-Birmingham, Arizona, LSU, Texas, Texas Tech, and Tulsa.

The tournament, being played at the Old Overton Club in Birmingham, is named for former U.S. Amateur Champion Jerry Pate, who currently plays on the PGA Champions Tour. Past tournaments have included participants such as current PGA players Tiger Woods, Notah Begay III, and Rory Sabbatini.

The final round will be held on Tuesday.
