WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Purdue men's golf team is off to a strong start after 36 holes in the first day of action at the Olympia Fields Country Club Fighting Illini Invitational. The Boilermakers are in fourth, just seven strokes behind first-place Stanford, with a team score of 582 (+22).
Purdue sophomore Tom Oliver is alone atop the leaderboard after carding rounds of 71 and 67 today at the par-70, 7200-yard Olympia Fields Country Club's North Course. He is the only golfer to finish the day below par (-2).
Senior Pariya Junhasavasdikul is tied for 13th after rounds of 71 and 74.
Freshman Vince Nadeau is playing like a veteran, tied for 29th with rounds of 74 and 75. Junior Santiago Russi is tied for 38th and senior Peter Richardson is tied for 45th.
