The Purdue women's golf team leads the field at the halfway point of the Big Ten championships.

The Boilermakers totaled 586 strokes over the first 36 holes and lead Ohio State and Michigan State by four strokes. Host school Indiana is fourth with a total of 592.

Purdue had five individuals in the top 18 overall. Four of the team's six scores count toward the team total.

Freshman Maria Hernandez is tied for third place overall. She fired an even-par 72 in the morning, which included an eagle on the par-4 sixth hole. She carded three birdies, two bogeys and a double in the afternoon for a 73.

Freshman Christel Boeljon is tied for fifth after rounds of 72 and 74. Boeljon eagled the par-5 12th. Her second round included one birdie and three bogeys.

Junior Myrte Eikenaar shook off a recent slump and posted rounds of 73 and 74. She is tied for eighth overall.

Senior Onnarin Sattayabanphot put together back-to-back rounds of 75 and is tied for 15th. Sophomore Whitney Frykman carded a 73 in the morning and a 78 in the afternoon. She is tied for 18th overall.

Freshman Stephanie Oukeo totaled 155 on the first day. She is tied for 39th overall.

The tournament is being held at the Indiana University Golf Course, a par-72, 6,477-yard layout. The field will play 18 holes on Saturday and the final 18 on Sunday.

Purdue is the top-ranked team in the field. The seventh-ranked Boilermakers also have four student-athletes in the top 100 individual rankings.
