The Purdue women's golf team finished third at the Lady Buckeye Invitational in Dublin, Ohio on Sunday.
The seventh-ranked Boilermakers led Florida by one stroke heading into the final round. Purdue fired a 294 on Sunday and the Gators carded a 292 to finish in second place by one stroke. Auburn finished 27 strokes ahead of the field after a total of 849. Purdue totaled 877. Kent Sate and Ohio State rounded out the top five.
The Lady Buckeye Invitational was the final tune-up for the Big Ten Championships next weekend. Purdue finished ahead of all nine other Big Ten schools in the field.
Senior Onnarin Sattayabanphot finished fourth after a total of 216 strokes. She carded a final-round 72 and finish even par after the three rounds.
Freshmen Christel Boeljon and Maria Hernandez both tied for seventh overall. The duo totaled 219 strokes. Boeljon carded a 75on Sunday and Hernandez fired a two-over 74.
Sophomore Whitney Frykman posted a one-over 73on Sunday and tied for 29th. She totaled 225 strokes over the three rounds.
Junior Myrte Eikenaar totaled 228 strokes and tied for 43rd overall. She tied for 43rd overall.
The tournament was held at The Golf Club of Dublin. It is a par-72, 6,177-yard layout.
The Boilermakers are in action again on April 28 to 30 at the 2006 Big Ten Championships in Bloomington, Ind.
