Final Stats

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The ninth-ranked Northwestern women's tennis team stayed perfect in league play with a 6-1 victory at No. 46 Purdue on Sunday. The Boilermakers dropped to 11-8 overall and 5-3 in Big Ten action with the home loss, while the Wildcats, favorites to repeat as conference champions, improved to 17-4 and 9-0.

Northwestern got on the scoreboard first by sweeping all three doubles matches for the doubles point. In singles, the Wildcats closed the door early on the host Boilermakers by winning the first three matches to come off the court to go up 4-0. Purdue needed to win four of the six singles matches to pull off the upset, but got just one from freshman No. 3 player Mallory Voelker, who rallied from a set down to upset 24th-ranked Alexis Prousis 2-6, 6-2, 6-0.

Purdue will finish its regular season next weekend with Saturday and Sunday matches at Iowa and Minnesota. The Big Ten Championships are scheduled for the following weekend, from April 27 to 30, in Champaign, Ill.
