ATHENS, Ga. - For a second straight day, junior Amanda Miller finished ahead of her diving mentor, senior All-American Carrie McCambridge.
Friday night, Miller was 11th off the 3-meter springboard with 306.15 points in earning the first honorable mention All-America citation of her career, while McCambridge was 16th with 293.20 points.
Miller did even better Saturday during the prelims of the platform tower competition, earning a seventh-place total of 272.40 points. McCambridge just missed reaching the finals with her ninth-place score of 267.95 points.
McCambridge finishes her collegiate career with four All-America titles and three Honorable Mention All-America awards.
Carlene Takaki continued to learn the NCAA Championship ropes for another day, finishing 27th in the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:00.89. Friday, Takaki also finished 27th in the 100 fly at 54.30.
Head coach Cathy Wright-Eger was please with Takaki's swim, but thinks she may have come out a bit relaxed.
"Her second 50-yard split was timed at 32.11 seconds, but she started and finished really strong," said Wright-Eger. "She's fortunate in that she can take this as a learning experience and be even more prepared for next year's championships."
Also during Friday prelims, senior Erica Chandler finished 30th in the 400 individual medley, touching the wall in 4:21.02.
