Hall Under Way

HOUSTON, Texas - The Purdue men's golf team is tied for fifth place after the first round of the Hall of Fame Invitational in Houston, Texas.

The No. 44 Boilermakers fired a first-round 303 and are tied with South-Carolina Aiken. Texas Leads the event after a first-round 293. Oklahoma State is second (294), East Tennessee State (294) is third and Oklahoma is fourth (300).

Junior Bobby Bennett had a very interesting round. Bennett only had six pars, but fired a team-low 74 on Friday. He is tied for 13th place after carding six birdies, four bogeys and two doubles. Bennett birdied the first three holes on the back nine.

Junior Peter Richardson fired a three-over 75. He is tied for 21st overall after two birdies and three bogeys on the day.

Sophomore Santiago Russi and junior Pariya Junhasavasdikul both fired a pair of 77s. The duo is tied for 35th overall. Freshman Michael Randle is tied for 67th after a total of 80 on Friday.

The Boilermakers placed seventh in the Hall of Fame Invitational in 2005. The Hall of Fame Invitational features 17 teams, including No. 1 Georgia and No. 2 Oklahoma State.

The Hall of Fame Invitational is being played at the par 72, 7,244-yard Redstone Tournament Course. The second will be held on Saturday and the final round on Sunday.
