No. 14 Purdue Holds Off Indiana in Overtime, 61-56

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (AP) - Katie Gearlds scored 19 points to lead No. 14 Purdue to a 61-56 overtime win over Indiana on Thursday night.

Lindsay Wisdom-Hylton scored on a short turnaround jumper with 18 seconds left in overtime to give Purdue a 59-56 lead. Indiana's Nikki Smith traveled, and Wisdom-Hylton made two free throws to seal it for Purdue.

Wisdom-Hylton finished with 12 points and 11 rebounds for Purdue (11-2, 3-0 Big Ten).

Jenny DeMuth had 13 points and 12 rebounds to lead Indiana (8-6, 2-1).

Purdue had a chance to win with the score tied at 53 in the final seconds of regulation, but Sharika Webb was called for a charge with 4.9 seconds left. Indiana's Cyndi Valentin missed an off-balance jumper at the buzzer to force overtime.

Indiana went 4-of-13 from the free-throw line after halftime.

Purdue increased its winning streak to seven games. The Boilermakers now have won six in a row in the series with Indiana, including a 62-58 overtime win in Bloomington last year.

The Boilermakers were never comfortable in the first half. Their largest lead was six points, and Annika Boyd's putback at the buzzer cut Purdue's lead to 29-26 at the break.

Purdue shot 11-for-30 from the field in the first half, but made up for it by outrebounding the Hoosiers 19-15 and scoring 12 second-chance points.

Valentin increased her school record of consecutive free throws made to 56, four short of the NCAA record. Valentin, who was averaging 18 points per game, was held to 10 on 3-for-17 shooting.
