Landfall Leaders

WILMINGTON, N.C. - The No. 5 Purdue women's golf team leads the field after the second round of the 2005 Landfall Tradition in Wilmington, N.C.

The Boilermakers, who have won two of three fall events this season, fired a second-round 289. Their total of 591 is 12 strokes lower than second-place Virginia. Wake Forest is third with a 605.

All five Boilermakers are in the top 18 among individuals.

Freshman Christel Boeljon posted the best round of the day for the second-straight day for Purdue. She fired a one-under 71 and is in second place overall.

Junior Myrte Eikenaar also recorded a 71 on Saturday and is tied for third overall. Eikenaar has a total of 146 over the two rounds.

Sophomore Whitney Frykman is tied for eighth place after a 73 on Saturday. Frykman has a total of 150.

Senior Onnarin Sattayabanphot is tied for 11th overall. She carded a 74 on Saturday.

Freshman Maria Hernandez, who won the Lady Northern Invitational earlier this season, is tied for 18th after a total of 154.

The Landfall Tradition is also featuring a 12-team men's tournament.

Both tournament are competing on the Jack Nicklaus designed Nicklaus Course at the Country Club of Landfall. The men's track is a par 72, 6,992-yard layout. The women will be facing a par 72, 6,070-yard challenge.
