WILMINGTON, N.C. - The Purdue men's team is in 11th place after the first round of the 2005 Landfall Tradition in Wilmington, N.C.
The Boilermakers fired a first-round 305 and trail VCU by eight strokes for fifth place. Tulsa leads the pack after totaling 289 on Friday.
Purdue was led by junior Pariya Junhasavasdikul, who fired a two-over 76. Junhasavasdikul has been the Boilermakers' most consistent individual during the fall season. He recorded five bogeys and three birdies during the first round.
Sophomore Santiago Russi carded a three-vear 75 and is tied for 28th overall. Russi played the front nine at even par.
Juniors Peter Richardson and Bobby Bennett are tied for 35th and 49th respectively. Richardson totaled a 76 and Bennett notched an 80. Junior Johan Edin is tied for 52nd after a first-round 81.
The Landfall Tradition is also featuring a 12-team women's tournament.
Both tournaments are competing on the Jack Nicklaus designed Nicklaus Course at the Country Club of Landfall. The men's track is a par 72, 6,992-yard layout. The women are facing a par 72, 6,070-yard challenge.
The Boilermakers tee off in the second round on Saturday morning.
