HOUSTON - The Purdue men's golf team is in 13th place after the first day of the Hall of Fame Invitational in Houston, Texas.

The Boilermakers fired a first-round 301 and trail Oklahoma, New Mexico and Oklahoma State by merely nine strokes for fourth place. Texas Christian leads the event after a first-round 285.

Purdue was led by sophomore Pariya Junhasavasdikul, who fired a two-over 74 on Friday. He is tied for 28th place with 10 other individuals. Junhasavasdikul carded three birdies and five bogeys on the day.

Senior Dustin Cone carded a 75 in the first round. Cone is tied for 38th after registering two birdies and four bogeys on the day. Sophomore Peter Richardson also fired a 75 on Friday. He had one birdie and three bogeys during his round.

Sophomore Bobby Bennett is tied for 63rd after a five-over 77. Sophomore Johan Edin, competing in his first tournament of the spring season, fired a 77 on Friday.

The event is being hosted by the University of Texas and held at the Redstone Golf Club. The course is a par-72, 7,352-yard layout.

The second round will be held on Saturday, March 19. Purdue tees off at 7:30 a.m. CST. Live scoring can be viewed at golfstat.com.
