LAS VEGAS, Nev. - The Purdue women's golf team is in ninth place after the first round of the 2005 UNLV Spring Invitational.

The Boilermakers totaled 326 on Monday. Southern California leads the event after firing a 307. Arizona and UNLV are tied for second place with 312 strokes each.

Purdue was led by sophomore Caroline Haase, who carded a four-over 76 on the day. Haase's 76 ties her for fourth place overall.

Freshman Whitney Frykman fired a first-round 81 and is tied for 31st overall. Junior Onnarin Sattayabanphot is tied for 53rd place after an opening-round 83.

Sophomore Myrte Eikenaar carded an 86 and is tied for 69th and freshman Danielle Wolter is tied for 91st after a 91.

Redshirt freshman Kara Eschbach competed as an individual and is tied for 69th after a first-round

The 18-team event is being hosted by the University of Nevada-Las Vegas and held at the Black Mountain Country Club. The course is a par 72, 6,009-yard layout.

Second round action begins on Tuesday morning and the final round will be held on Wednesday.
