GAINESVILLE, Fla. - The Purdue men's golf team is in 11th place after 36 holes of the 2005 Gator Invitational in Gainesville, Fla.

The event is the first of the spring season for the Boilermakers, who recorded four top-three finishes in the fall season.

The Boilermakers carded a 295 through the first 18 holes on Saturday and then fired a 302 to total 597 on the day. Wake Forest leads the event after a first-day 577.

Sophomore Peter Richardson is toed for eighth place overall. He was two-over par on the day after rounds of 72 and 70.

Senior Dustin Cone is tied for 36th after rounds of 76 and 73. Sophomore Pariya Junhasavadikul carded a 72 and 79 and is tied for 47th.

Freshman Santiago Russi is tied for 66th after rounds of 75 and 80. Sophomore Bobby Bennett is in 78th place after a total of 166.

The event is being hosted by the University of Florida and held at the University of Florida Golf Course. The course is a par 70, 6,701-yard layout.

The final round will be held on Sunday.
