HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. - The Purdue men's golf team dropped its first round match to Arizona at the Hooters Collegiate Match Play Championship on Sunday.
The ninth-seeded Boilermakers fell 3-2 to the No. 8 seed Arizona.
Senior Dustin Cone and sophomore Bobby Bennett picked up Purdue's two wins. Cone defeated Nathan Tyler 2 up and Bennett defeated Nathan Lashley 4 and 2.
The Boilermakers face No. 16 seed Penn State in the second round of the event, which was postponed due to a rain delay.
The event is being held at the Mission Inn Resort at Howey in the Hills, Fla.
The second round of the Hooters Collegiate Match Play Championship will resume on Monday morning at 8 a.m. EST.
