WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Purdue women's tennis player Hala Sufi dropped out of the qualifying draw at the Riviera/ITA All-American Championships in Los Angeles on Tuesday. The sophomore, ranked 93rd in the nation, suffered a 7-5, 6-3 first-round loss at the hands of Florida's Boglarka Berecz, ranked 56th.
Sufi went on to play a consolation match against Kristi Miller of Georgia Tech. Miller won 6-3, 6-3.
Sufi and the Boilermakers will be back in action Oct. 21, when they begin play at the ITA Midwest Championships in Minneapolis, Minn.
