The Purdue men's golf team finished ninth at the 2004 Big Ten/Pac-10 Challenge in Bandon, Ore. on Tuesday.

The Boilermakers fired a 299 on Tuesday, 11 strokes lower than their first-round total, which was postponed because of rain.

Purdue totaled a 609, only 13 strokes behind the leaders. Minnesota won the event on the fifth tiebreaker, tying with USC after totaling 596. Purdue was the fourth-best finishing Big Ten team. Northwestern finished fifth and Penn State was eighth.

The event was held at the 6,980 yard, par 72 Bandon Dunes Golf Resort in Bandon, Ore.

Purdue was led by sophomore Bobby Bennett, who tied for 11th overall. He fired a 74 on Tuesday.

Senior Dustin Cone tied for 22nd overall after rounds of 77 and 75. Sophomore Peter Richardson fired a team-low 71 on Tuesday and tied for 33rd overall after a total of 154.

Sophomore Pariya Junhasvasdikul tied for 55th and senior Ryan Masuda tied for 57th.

The Boilermakers are in action again on Oct. 29 and 31 at the Landfall Tradition in Wilmington, N.C.
