WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Boilermakers (6-5, 2-3 Big Ten) dropped a 1-0 decision to Wisconsin Friday afternoon at the Varsity Soccer Complex. The loss not only snapped an eight-match home unbeaten streak, but also broke a four-match winning streak against the Badgers (7-3-1, 1-3-1 Big Ten).

Prior to Friday's match, Wisconsin had not beaten nor scored against Purdue in the regular season since 1999; a 4-0 win at Madison.

Wisconsin starting midfielder Katy Lindemuth broke the Badgers' five-year scoring drought in the 10th minute. Her first shot on goal was saved by a Purdue defender, but she was able to gain control of the rebound and blasted the ball past goalkeeper Lauren Mason.

Wisconsin would not get another good look at the net until the 80th minute. Amy Vermeulen's chance to add an insurance goal on a direct free kick from eight-yards back was tipped over the crossbar by goalkeeper Maureen Carey.

The Badgers recorded eight shots for the match, with only six shots on goal. Mason and Carey combined for four saves.

Purdue's offense did not get many more good looks at the net, finishing with 12 shots, six of which were on goal.

In the first half, a Parrissa Eyorokon header off a Jill Sarbaugh cross sailed just wide of the right post. Eyorokon was later robbed of a goal in the second half by Wisconsin goalkeeper Lynn Murray, after breaking through a pack of Badger defenders inside the six-yard box.

Eyorokon led the Boilermakers with three shots and two shots on goal.

In the second half, Murray knocked down a Kira Bilecky header off a Kim Comisar corner kick and was later saved by the crossbar, which Jordyn Shaffer rattled from 25-yards out on her free kick attempt.

Murray's shutout was her second of the season, and the win boosted her record to 5-2-0.

Purdue continues its homestand next weekend with matches against No. 13 Michigan (Friday, 3 p.m.) and Michigan State (Sunday, 1 p.m.). Both contests can be heard live on 1410 WLAS-AM and over the world wide web at purduesports.com.
