Two-time First Team All-Big Ten honoree Parrissa Eyorokon returned to campus as a new assistant coach for Purdue women's soccer in July 2012.
Eyorokon works with all forms of on-field training, assists with goalkeeper development, coordinates travel and has even put the cleats back on to participate in scrimmages when needed.
Eyorokon scored 27 goals for the Boilermakers from 2004-07. Highlighted by Purdue's program-record 20-win campaign her senior year, the team compiled a 55-25-8 (.670) record during her career. The Boilermakers made three straight NCAA Tournament appearances from 2005-07 and won the Big Ten Tournament in 2007.
Eyorokon scored 12 goals, including four game-winners, in 2007 en route to earning Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year and First Team All-America honors from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. She went on to play professionally for the Washington Freedom of Women's Professional Soccer.
In 2013, Purdue scored a goal in each of the first 13 games of the season and also posted a shutout streak of 329 consecutive scoreless minutes during a three-game win streak. Maddy Williams enjoyed a breakout freshman season, establishing a new Purdue freshman record with 26 points while tying the freshman goals mark (10) with the first double-figure mark by a Boiler since Eyorokon's senior season of 2007.
In Eyorkon's first year on the coaching staff, the Boilermakers opened the season 2-0 and entered Big Ten play with a 5-2-1 mark after playing Big 12 champion West Virginia to a draw and defeating Central Michigan, the winner of the Mid-American Conference's West Division, in their final two nonconference games. During the nonconference portion of the season, Purdue rarely trailed. But as the injuries mounted during the final month of the season, leads were scarce.
Jordan Pawlik finished her first season with the program with a team-high nine goals, the most by a Boiler since 2007. She tied a Purdue single-game record by posting the fourth hat trick in program history in the Sept. 2 win against Evansville. Alex Hairston led the team with eight assists, setting up seven goals in the span of four games.
'We are really excited to have Parrissa rejoin the program,' Klatte said. 'We feel that her playing experience, both collegiately and as a professional, will assist our current players in maximizing their development. In addition, her experience within the program will help her seamlessly transition into her new role.'
Originally a native of West Chester, Ohio, Eyorokon was a three-time Academic All-Big Ten student-athlete at Purdue. She graduated in 2008 with a degree in sociology. She joins Erin Otagaki-VanPaemel on Klatte's coaching staff for the upcoming 2012 season.
Since her playing career ended, Eyorokon has served as a youth coach with the Cincinnati United Soccer Club and volunteered with the Goodwill Good Guides mentoring program. She has been working as a childcare provider for Care.com. Her primary responsibilities included educating and tutoring children and preparing meals.
Eleven of Eyorokon's 27 goals scored for Purdue proved to be game-winners. She led the team in goals in 2004 and 2006. Five of her eight scores in 2006 were game-winners. The three-year starter was a two-time First Team All-Big Ten performer as an upperclassman. She was also named to the Big Ten All-Freshman Team in 2004.
