AUBURN, Ala. - The Purdue women's golf team fell into a tie for 21st place after three rounds of the NCAA Women's Golf National Championships on Thursday.
Purdue finished the second round on Thursday morning after rains on Wednesday. The Boilermakers then fired a 308 in the third round and totaled 909 after the first three days.
The Boilermakers are tied with UNLV and trail three schools by 12 strokes for a top 10 finish.
UCLA leads the field with a three-day total of 858. Oklahoma State is in second with an 863. Purdue is in second place among Big Ten schools, Ohio State is first after a three-day total of 891
Senior Beth Hermes is tied for 27th overall. She fired a third-round 78. She was one-under on the first 18 holes.
Sophomore Onnarin Sattayabanphot fired a 77 in the third round and is tied for 77th overall.
Freshman Myrte Eikenaar made the biggest turnaround from the first round. After a first-round 83, she fired a two-under 70 on the second 18 holes. She carded a 77 on Thursday and is tied for 87th overall.
Freshman Maria Stinson carded a 76 in the third, her lowest of the tournament. She is tied for 95th overall. Freshman Caroline Haase carded an 84 in the third round and is in 124th place.
The event is being hosted by Auburn on the par-72, 6,215-yard Grand National Lake Golf Course in Auburn, Ala. The tournament features the final 18 holes on Friday.
Purdue is ranked No. 40 in the current golfweek.com poll. This is the seventh-straight season, the Boilermakers are playing in the postseason and the fifth-straight season they have advanced to the NCAA Championships. Purdue is one of seven schools to accomplish the feat.
