COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Purdue women's golf team fired a final-round 313 to finish fourth at the 2004 Big Ten Women's Golf Championships. The event was held on the OSU Scarlet Course on the campus of Ohio State University in Columbus.
The Boilermakers totaled a 1231 over the four rounds. Their 313 on Sunday was the their highest round of the tournament. Ohio State claimed its third-straight title with a three-day total of 1199.
Along with the team championship, all-conference awards were also handed out. Senior Beth Hermes and sophomore Onnarin Sattayabanphot were both named second team All-Big Ten on Sunday.
Hermes finished fifth overall at the championships. She fired a 74 on Sunday and totaled a 300 over the four rounds.
Sattayabanphot tied for sixth overall after a 302. She fired a 76 in the final round.
Freshman Myrte Eikenaar had an impressive showing in her first conference championships. She finished tied for 11th overall after carding an 81 on Sunday. She totaled 307 over the three days.
Freshman Caroline Haase tied for 43rd after a total of 325. Freshman Maria Stinson finished 53rd after an 82 on Sunday. Senior Ella Asbun tied for 54th after an 83 in the final round.
The Boilermakers now wait to see if they are in the NCAA Women's Golf Central Regional Championships, which are held from May 6 to 8.
