COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Purdue women's golf team fired the second-lowest round of the day to move into third place after three rounds of the 2004 Big Ten Women's Golf Championships. The event is being held on the OSU Scarlet Course on the campus of Ohio State University in Columbus. The final 18 holes of the tournament concludes on Sunday.
The Boilermakers fired a third-round 303 and have a total of 918. Purdue trails tournament leader Indiana by 14 strokes. Ohio State is in second place with a three-round total of 906.
The Scarlet Course is a par-72, 6,201-yard layout. Ohio State is the defending champion. OSU's Allison Hanna and Indiana's Karen Dennison are the reigning individual champions.
Three Boilermakers are tied for sixth place overall.
Senior Beth Hermes, sophomore Onnarin Sattayabanphot and freshman Myrte Eikenaar each totaled a 226 over the first three rounds and are tied for sixth overall.
Hermes and Eikenaar both carded 75s on Saturday. Sattayabanphot turned in the third-lowest round of the day in the tournament with a 73.
Freshman Caroline Haase is tied for 35th overall after a round of 80 on Saturday. Freshman Maria Stinson fired an 83 on Saturday and is tied for 55th overall.
Senior Ella Asbun is tied for 57th overall. She totaled an 82 on Saturday.
Live scoring of the fourth round of 2004 Women's Big Ten Championships will be provided by golfstat.com on Sunday. The Boilermakers tee off at 9 a.m. ET.
