WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Purdue women's golf team finished fourth at the 2004 Lady Boilermaker Invitational. The event was held on the Kampen Course at the Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex.
The Boilermakers fired a final-round 320 in extremely windy conditions. Their three-round total of 932 was 14 strokes behind tournament champion Michigan State. Indiana placed second and Northwestern finished third.
Purdue was led by freshman Myrte Eikenaar, who finished in third place overall. She carded a final-round 76 and was one of 11 players, who posted scores in the 70s in all three rounds. Eikenaar totaled a 228 over the two days.
Sophomore Onnarin Sattayabanphot tied for sixth overall after three-round 230. She carded an 81 on Sunday.
Senior Beth Hermes fired an 80 on Sunday and tied for 16th overall. Freshmen Maria Stinson and Caroline Haase finished tied for 35th and 42nd respectively. Stinson fired an 88 on Sunday, while Haase carded an 83.
Senior Ella Asbun shot an 83 on Sunday after having her second round disqualified for signing an incorrect scorecard.
The 2004 Lady Boilermaker Invitational was the final tournament before the Big Ten Championships, held from April 23 to 25 in Columbus, Ohio.
