WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Purdue women's golf team is in third place at the 2004 Lady Boilermaker Invitational after the first two rounds on Saturday. The event is being held on the Kampen Course at the Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex.
The Boilermakers fired a first-round 298 and a 314 in the afternoon. Their total of 612 is 16 strokes behind tournament leader Indiana.
Purdue was led by sophomore Onnarin Sattayabanphot, who is tied for third after a two-round total of 149. She fired a 74 in the morning and a 75 in the afternoon.
Freshman Myrte Eikenaar totaled a 152 and is in 14th place. She Shot a 73 and 79 on the day. Senior Beth Hermes carded a 73 on the first 18 holes and an 81 in afternoon. Hermes is tied for 15th overall.
Freshman Maria Stinson is tied for 26th after a two-round total of 157. She fired a 78 and 79 on the day.
Freshman Caroline Haase is tied for 48th after a two-round total of 164. Senior Ella Asbun shot an 80 in the first round and was disqualified for signing an incorrect scorecard in the second round.
The 2004 Lady Boilermaker Invitational is the final tournament before the Big Ten Championships, held from April 23 to 25 in Columbus, Ohio.
The final round begins on Sunday at 8 a.m. CT. The event is open free of charge to the public. Complete results can be found at purduesports.com.
