GREENSBORO, N.C. - The Purdue women's golf is tied for second place after the first round of the 2004 Bryan National Collegiate in Greensboro, N.C.
The Boilermakers fired a first round 294 and are tied with Auburn for second place. Duke leads the event after a first-round 298.
The event is being hosted by Wake Forest University and held on the par-72, 6,074-yard Bryan Park Champion golf course.
The Boilermakers were led by senior Beth Hermes, who fired a two-under 70 to grab a share of the lead with Duke's Virada Nirapathpongporn. Sophomore Onnarin Sattayabanphot carded a one-under 71 and is tied for third overall.
Newcomer Myrte Eikenaar shot a 74 and is tied for 15th. Senior Ella Asbun is tied for 54th after a first-round 79, and freshman Caroline Haase is tied for 66th after an 80 on Friday.
