WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Purdue men's tennis team dropped a 5-2 decision to Princeton in San Diego on Thursday. The Boilermakers are 5-5, while the Tigers improve to 7-5.

Purdue lost the doubles point, then suffered defeats in four of six singles matches. The Boilermakers got wins from senior Troy Havens at No. 1, and freshman Eric Hodgman at No. 6.

Head coach Tim Madden said Purdue's goal for its Friday match against No. 44 Oklahoma State is to leave everything on the court.

"We need to compete," Madden said. "I think some of our guys have confused working hard with competing, and we need to get that straightened out."

The Boilermakers and Cowboys will meet at 9 a.m., in San Diego.
