WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (AP) - Shereka Wright and Katie Gearlds had 17 points and five rebounds apiece to lead eighth-ranked Purdue over Wisconsin-Milwaukee 88-60 Tuesday night .
The Panthers (1-2) stayed close for the game's first seven minutes, but could not match the Boilermakers' strong inside game.
Purdue (2-1) broke away with a 15-3 run midway through the first half, then closed with an 11-4 spurt for a 49-28 lead at the break. It attempted just three 3-pointers and shot 70 percent in the half.
The Boilermakers opened the second half on a 10-4 run to put the game away, and finished with a shooting percentage of 64.3, the fifth-best in school history.
Wisconsin-Milwaukee was led by Maria Viall, who had 23 points and 12 rebounds while moving into fourth place on the school's career scoring list. She has 1,403 points.
