Women's Golf Falls To Duke At Hooters Match Play Championships

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - The Purdue women's golf team battled No. 1 seed Duke to a tie in the first round of the 2003 Hooters Match Play Championships.

The Boilermakers and Blue Devils tied 2.5 to 2.5. Duke was awarded the win because as a team, it won more holes than Purdue.

Sophomore Onnarin Sattayabanphot and senior Ella Asbun each won their match 2 and 1.

Freshman Maria Stinson and Caroline Haase each were defeated 5 and 4. Senior Beth Hermes finished her match all square.

The Boilermakers face No. 9 seed Ohio State in the second round on Monday.
