Women's Golf Finishes Fifth At East Carolina Invitational

GREENVILLE, N.C. - The Purdue women's golf team finished fifth at the East Carolina Invitational in Greenville, N.C., on Tuesday.

The Boilermakers fired a final-round 302 and finished with a 903. Mississippi State finished first with a three-round 894.

The event was hosted by East Carolina and held at the par-72, 6,093-yard Bradford Creek Country Club.

Purdue was led by sophomore Onnarin Sattayabanphot, who fired a 75 and 72 on Monday. She carded a 75 on Tuesday and finished in eighth place overall.

Senior Ella Asbun tied for 15th after a three-round 225. Freshman Caroline Haase tied for 19th after carding a 227 over the two days.

Senior Beth Hermes carded a three-round 229 and tied for 24th overall. Freshman Maria Stinson tied for 52nd after a three-round 237.

The Boilermakers are in action again from Oct. 19 to 21 at the Mercedes-Benz Invitational in Knoxville, Tenn. Purdue won the event in 2002.
